WATER SUPPLIES

The only pump in Heliopolis is on the main road. The public washing place is there too. the happy splashing of housewives washing dirty "undies" ceases in August as the supplies in the cisterns have then usually come to an abrupt end. The "elixir of life" can only be gathered during winter rains and should never be wasted. Despite this shortage the reservoirs in some cisterns are sufficient to allow visitors to showers.
